Monstrous Maud

The second of our brand new series out this week launches today with Buster Books! We’re thrilled to introduce you all to…

Monstrous Maud

Monstrous Maud

Editor Conrad Mason says:

Maud loves monsters, creepy-crawlies and all things spooky, and doesn’t fit in with her girly pink-obsessed classmates at Primrose Towers school. So when her pet rat Quentin runs riot during a lesson, she’s sent to Rotwood School instead. Maud discovers that Rotwood is a school for real monsters – and she loves it. But if she wants to stay she’ll have to convince her terrifying new teacher that she’s as scary as the vampires, werewolves and mummies in her class.

There are plenty of pink and sparkly series for girls out there, so we thought it would be fun to create a story about a very different kind of girl. Maud might like spooky stuff, but she’s also brave, generous and kind, and the series is really about fitting in whilst staying true to yourself. It’s monstrously funny too, and our writer has done a fantastic job bringing the mad world of Rotwood to life.

As Maud would say, I’d bet my eyeballs you’ll enjoy it!

The first two books, Big Fright and Scary Sports Day, are both published today. Two more books, Spooky Sleepover and Monstrous Maud and the Wicked Wizard are coming at the beginning of August.

But that’s not all the good news – we’re thrilled to be able to announce that Buster Books have already commissioned two more in the series from us! We can’t wait to get cracking on more horrifically funny adventures for Maud and friends.
